the PROMISE Fellowship

Building the Next Generation of WASH Leaders

The PROMISE Fellowship is a capacity-building initiative of the PROMISE Consortium that supports early-career researchers and practitioners across consortium countries to strengthen their research, technical and leadership capabilities. The Fellowship equips participants to generate, apply and translate evidence to address priority challenges in sanitation, hygiene, health, food safety and equity.

Through a competitive selection process, fellows receive funding, mentorship and technical support, as well as access to the wider PROMISE network, to undertake applied research addressing priority challenges in their countries.

The Fellowship places particular emphasis on scientific rigour and the translation of research into policy and practice. Fellows are expected to transform their findings into practical knowledge products, including peer-reviewed manuscripts and policy briefs, helping to bridge the gap between evidence and action.

Our Vision

To develop a new generation of WASH and public health leaders who can generate locally relevant evidence and translate it into stronger policies, programmes and investments for healthier and more equitable communities.

Our Inaugural Fellows

The inaugural PROMISE Fellowship attracted nine applicants from all seven PROMISE Consortium countries. Following a competitive review by the PROMISE Consortium Steering Committee, four fellows were selected.
